Kara Lord is a trained psychologist who specializes in the area of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She lectures in psychology at the University of Guyana, the Faculty of Education and Humanities. She was also the Head of the Department for Research and Graduate Studies and the Deputy Dean of FEH. She has a Doctor of Education degree in Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University. She is also the holder of a Master of Science degree in Work and Organizational Psychology from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, and a Master of Science in Instructional Design & Technology. She completed, with distinction, a Post Graduate in Education (Higher Education). She has a first-class honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill). Notably, her initiative to call together professional psychologists in Guyana has led to the establishment of the Guyana Society of Professional Psychologists (GuyPsych).
